In case you didn't already know, I am spoiled rotten!

Jack's mom and dad invited us over for New Year's Day to have dinner.  You might remember that from a previous post here.  Why does that make me spoiled rotten, read on...

On New Year's Eve Jack and I probably talked to his dad about 5 or 6 times.  When Dad told us what was for dinner, we simply kept saying, "and scalloped potatoes and cabbage rolls right?".  Dad kept saying no and Jack and I would just laugh.  I think at some point Dad started to feel like we might not come over because we kept asking for the scalloped potatoes and cabbage rolls.  Later that evening, I spoke to Jack's sister Kim on the phone and told her that if we talk to Dad again I'm going to tell him, "nah, I'm an only child, so I just called my mom and dad and asked for steak and lobster since you won't make scalloped potatoes and cabbage rolls, so we're going over there instead."

It seems this joke took on a life of its own because the next day, dad called and asked if we were still coming over because Kim told him we were going to my parents house to have steak and lobster!  What a hoot!

Anyway, we get to Jack's parents house and lo and behold there are scalloped potatoes!  We got one of two requests!  We are spoiled!

So, I told Jack's mom the story of giving dad a hard time about not coming because there wasn't going to be scalloped potatoes and cabbage rolls.  Now, I think everybody got the joke, I really wasn't a brat that called my parents and told them that my in-laws wouldn't cook what I wanted so would they make steak and lobster for dinner?

At this point I'm spoiled enough right, because I got the scalloped potatoes, but it didn't end there.  This past Monday I get a call from JoAnn, Jack's mom.  She asks me if I'm working Tuesday because she made cabbage rolls and I could pick them up on my way home.  If the fact that she made them doesn't make me spoiled enough, what she went through definitely does...

She went to Meijer near her home and there was barely anything in stock and she stood and rang the bell at the butcher forever and no-one ever came to help her out.  At the deli, the woman couldn't work the scales and she had to wait there.  She decided she would complain about the service, but no-one would offer anything other than to speak to a manager on the phone.  Mom informed the check-out girl that she was never coming back to that store.  She then drove up to another Meijer and was able to find everything she needed.  Needless to say, mom went through HELL to make these cabbage rolls for me!

Considering Mom's trials the day before to make these cabbage rolls, I was a bit leery on Tuesday when I stopped by after work for fear that Mom might punch me in the face when I got there!  I got off lucky with no bruises and was able to bring home mom's cabbage rolls!  Hooray!

So anyway, I am completely spoiled rotten and I love it!  Thanks Mom!  Thank you SO much for making me cabbage rolls and thank you so much for your persistence at the store, I really REALLY enjoyed the cabbage rolls and I think you are AWESOME!

Good for you! Just goes to show if you really want something, just ask for it, and if you get it all the better
