Happy New Year

I realize I am about 3 days late in saying so, but I wanted to make sure that I did wish all that read a Happy New Year.

So what has been keeping me away all year? The house! You might remember that on 12/29 I posted an image of the before and after of cleaning the girls' room. Well, it didn't stop there!

After work on Tuesday (30th), Jack and I finished the entire upstairs and took down all the Christmas decorations. That of course meant that the house was destroyed at that point! After work on Wednesday, We emptied the living room, dining room, and bathroom downstairs and washed down walls, ceilings, floors, and baseboards. Followed by cleaning any and all furniture, photographs, etc and returning them to where they belong. This, of course, meant we ran in to a bunch of junk that we couldn't figure out why we kept. This ended up in the kitchen. We stopped to celebrate the New Year and watch the ball drop on TV and then off to bed we went. We got started late on the 1st, but due to a good cause. We went to Jack's mom's to have New Year's dinner. Ribs, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, kraut, homemade bread, and apple pie. Very nice break from the mess at home and an opportunity to visit with family.

On Friday, we picked the kids up and took them out to lunch at Rooster's for wings and fries. It is such a long time that we go without seeing them over winter break and it was a nice added bonus to be able to see them and spend a little time with them. Then it was back to work.

A little dusting and vacuuming in the basement following by emptying the Florida Room of all furniture and junk and washing everything down and putting the room back together.

We planned to do Corey's room and the office yesterday, but we just couldn't muster up the energy. So today, I hope to tackle both so that all that will be left is sorting through the things we thought we'd better keep that are in the basement, but we haven't needed in 4 years. I'll wait until Spring for that!

Not the most exciting photos, but you get the idea of the mess we've made!

You sure do have a lot of energy in the middle of winter. Good for you, it does feel good to have a clean and uncluttered home.
